On the Issues
As a single dad of two great teenagers, and a 17-year Hayward homeowner, I want to make Hayward safe and affordable for my kids and yours. My top priorities are:
Safe, clean, walkable neighborhoods
- Continue to develop community-responsive policing and neighborhood partnerships to reduce crime
- Promote Adopt-a-block city wide for volunteer litter pickup
- Support Hayward Navigation Center helping homeless transition to permanent housing
- Add stripes to roads and sidewalk lighting to calm traffic and promote walking
More housing, less traffic
- Create housing for fire, police, teachers, and city employees to eliminate long commutes and improve family time
- Promote ‘work from home’ plans across the region to further reduce freeway congestion
- Build more units suitable for young families to stay near their parents
- Continue building safe and affordable inclusionary housing to give all families access to good schools, fresh food, and quality services.
Build Education partnerships to strengthen schools and create a pipeline to prosperity
- Continue funding conflict resolution classes
- Add violence intervention programs
- Increase funding for entrepreneurship classes
Provide Economic Opportunity
- Open a business incubator supported by proven leaders from local business, the Chamber of Commerce, and Hayward Rotary.
- Promote 'hire locally/shop locally' programs
- Support Hayward’s membership in a public bank
Partner with H.A.R.D. to increase Hayward recreation opportunities
- Get La Vista Park fully developed
- Restore several parks that need the help
- Bring a multi-sport complex to Hayward, including ice hockey, roller rink, indoor swimming, soccer, and other sports
Extend Hayward’s Environmental Leadership
- Promote East Bay Community Energy’s 100% Renewable Energy plans
- Encourage investment in solar farms and rooftop solar for businesses
- Require new city fleet to be electric vehicles
