About
Thank you for caring to learn about Dan Goldstein for Hayward City Council.
Dan is a cyber security expert with 35 years’ experience growing business start-ups and leading organizations, including 13 years at Cisco Systems. A 20-year Hayward resident, homeowner, and proud single dad of two great kids in college, he currently serves as a Hayward City Council member, and previously served on the Hayward Planning Commission for 7 years, participating in the approval of over $4 billion in new investment in Hayward. Dan actively supports our local schools as a board member of the Hayward Education Foundation, member of Hayward Rotary Club, and classroom volunteer.
Working his way through UC Berkeley at the campus police department gave Dan lasting insight to solve community safety, street violence, homelessness, and poverty through community-oriented public safety policies and social programs. Visiting prisoners and homeless shelters with the message that “your past does not make your future,” Dan sees that recovery works, redemption is possible, hope is alive. Volunteering as the emergency coordinator for the East Bay Section of the Amateur Radio Relay League and as the administrative sergeant for the Alameda County Sheriff’s Communications Team, Dan works hard to make local communities safer, stronger, and better able to recover from a disaster here in the Bay Area.
Dan is an avid motorcyclist and volunteer, plays ice hockey with his kids, and adores the family's Siberian Husky “Jack.”
